Varsity Basketball Team Takes National Championship!!
After a successful basketball season playing for Aletheia, our varsity boys took second place in the Panhandle Christian Conference and traveled to Dayton, Tennessee, for the National Competition for Division IV. They won decisive victories and won a spot in the championship game against the odds-on favorites, Hamilton Heights Christian School from Chattanooga, TN. After an incredibly action-packed and fast-paced game, during which the commentators repeatedly expressed admiration and amazement at our boys’ skills, Aletheia and Hamilton Heights were tied and went into overtime. During the four-minute overtime, Aletheia pulled out the win — 98-91!
Several of our players were recognized as All-Tournament players — Kyle Colborn, Ben Everett, Kevin Wiggins, and J.D. Lowery. Josh Jones was awarded the game’s Most Valuable Offensive Player, and Patrick Everett was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player!
All of our players performed well, and we are so proud of them! What a way to end an exciting season of basketball!
The Pensacola News Journal wrote a great article about the victory. To read it, please click here.
Congratulations to our JV Boys team of 09-10 for winning the Panhandle Christian Conference!
