Senior Trip 2011
Our Senior Class of 2011 traveled to Costa Rica to work with the Abraham Project as they worked to improve an orphanage. Students worked building a fence that would keep children from falling off of a cliff at the back of the play area. During two afternoons, after construction work, they witnessed to the children through a puppet show, a craft project (salvation beads), making balloon animals, and showing affection to them. As one Senior said, “All they really wanted was love.” For fun, they experienced a zip line through the top of the rain forest canopy and a white water rafting trip. What memories were made! More importantly, they were used by God to witness of His goodness and show His love to children who were hungry for it. Praise be to God!
Student Missions
While the Lord has blessed us greatly, He has also provided our students the opportunity to bless others in our community and around the world. Some of the activities our students are involved in include:
Habitat for Humanity
Our Juniors and Seniors take a week each year to help build a Habitat house for a low-income family. This practical, hands-on project is a great way to reach out to those in need. It also offers our students a way to personally invest in blessing others and in learning useful building skills. So far, Aletheia students have helped to build nine houses.
Manna Food Bank
Our student government association frequently sponsors canned-food drives for the Manna Food Bank. Our last food drive yielded a donation to Manna of 1,476 pounds of food to help meet the needs of the hungry in Northwest Florida. Here is the thank you letter we received from Manna for our efforts. To God be the Glory!
Compassion International
On their own, some classes have sponsored children through this ministry. They provide food and supplies to hungry and needy children, especially in Africa and Asia.
Backpacks for India
Each year for several years, we have participated in a drive to supply backpacks filled with food and practical items for Indian children.
Senior Trip
During each Senior trip, there is an opportunity for missions service. Whether serving food to the homeless or bringing the gospel to children in a village through performance, our Seniors have an annual opportunity to minister to those in need and spread the love of Christ.
SGA Projects
Our Student Government Association hosts various charitable drives each year. Canned goods, blankets and coats, and other items have been the focus in years’ past. Last year, our SGA sponsored a “Penny War” where students from Pre-K through 12th grade brought in change for the disaster victims in Japan. They raised almost $2,100.00.
We are excited to see our students expand their impact on the world around them and reach out in the name of Christ!
